My great-uncles,
Roman Peter and Teodor Edward Jacobs, and great-aunt Helena Gertrude Jacobs, were the 9th, 10th, and 11th children of Anastazja
and Johann Jakubowski. Roman was born on February 12, 1908, Teodor on September 10, 1910, and Helena on June 14, 1913.
They were all born at home in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Teodor(te-AW-dawr) was called Ted by his family and friends,
and Helena(he-LE-nah) was called Helen.
All three of them never married. Roman was a veteran of World War II, and he eventually moved to Geneva, New
York with his brother Piotr. He may have had some post-traumatic stress issues. Teodor was also a veteran of World
War II. He owned a small grocery store near his family home. Helena helped her brother to operate his store and
she also worked in the garment industry.
Roman died on July 9, 1954, Teodor died on
August 6, 1969, and Helena died on July 20, 1993. Teodor and Helena are both buried in St. Mary's Maternity Cemetery
in West Wyoming, Pennsylvania. Roman is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Geneva, New York.
